Big, bold and blingy are the words for this layered and domed starfish pin. Curved "arms" that look like the whorls in a paisley print surround a raised center rosette. Everything is outlined in small light green rhinestones, with larger dark green rhinestones in the center. Pin measures approximately 2¼ inches in diameter - certainly big enough to make a splash - and the curved arms raise the center to about ¾ inch above its back! It's a well-made piece: all the stones are prong-set and the pinstem is directly soldered to the back. Pin most likely dates from the late 1950s or early 60s when big, blingy brooches were in vogue. Some of the light-colored rhinestones are showing a little bit of darkening, but one often finds that on older rhinestone jewelry and it doesn't really detract from the overall beauty of this lovely pin. A great look for anyone who loves vintage jewelry!
