Mid-century multi-strand choker necklace has 4 strands of glossy black glass beads in irregular shapes, alternating with round beads in blue/green/purple peacock iridescence. Necklace measures approximately 17-1/2 inches along the shortest strand, and falls to about 9-1/2 inches when fastened. Matching earrings are clip-on bead clusters in the same colors, with iridescent beads predominating - they look like a cluster of dark soap bubbles! They measure about 1 inch in diameter. Findings are goldtone. Multi-strand necklace and earring sets like this were a fashion staple in the 1950s and early 60s, and ladies wore them any time they wanted to look dressy but didn’t want the glitter of rhinestones. This particular set is signed Japan. It probably dates from circa 1960, and it’s in great condition with only minor age-expected wear. It would certainly make a dramatic statement - a great way to add a little mid-century style to your wardrobe!
