Put some spring in his look with this lovely tie clip and cufflinks set by Ando Cloisonne Co. Ltd. Rounded squares are enameled with red plum blossoms, buds and branches on a snow-white background. They are still in their original box, with a printed insert giving some background on the company - a well-known maker of cloisonne goods, mostly vases, though they do some jewelry.
The three medallions each measure about 5/8 inch square. Cufflinks have toggles and the tie bar is about 1-7/8 inch wide. We estimate that this lovely set dates from sometime around 1950. The ribbon inside the lid has what we believe to be the company name and location in Japanese characters: (Ando Shipōyaki, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka) - however, most of the characters are older forms that went out of use in the mid-1950s, and the tie clip also looks like it was meant to be worn with the narrower ties of the postwar era.
Ando jewelry is rarely seen in the U.S. and we're very lucky to have found this exquisite set. Perfect for a bridegroom, groomsman, dad - or just a stylish guy!
