Castlecliff Larry Vrba Aztec Inspired Pendant Necklace Statement Runway
From the Pre-Columbian Collection of circa 1970, this bold pendant is sometimes known as the "Kissing Indians" for the figures in feather headdresses that surround the central stone. A large square piece of blue art glass is surrounded by these monumental figures, and around the edge are feather shapes in dark red, purple, green and blue. All the metalwork is goldtone. There is a substantial ornamental bail, and the pendant hangs from a 17-inch rope chain. The pendant itself measures a whopping 3 x 4-1/2 inches including the bail. As you might expect from a piece that's about 45 years old, there is some wear to the metal, especially where the chain passes through the bail. It's still gorgeous, with a bold ethnic look that's fabulous with this year's styles!
